WordPress Cover Block – the easy way to build a front page

WordPress Cover Block – the easy way to build a front page

Posted on 8. maj 202424. november 2024 by Peter

With WordPress’ Full Site Editing (or FSE) you have more freedom to design your own webpage’s front page than ever before

There’s plenty of documentation available (for instance at https://learn.wordpress.org) so the following steps is just intended to give a brief intro. If you are familiar with WordPress (maybe you are a student at my elective) the following may be just enough to get you rolling.

Step 1 remove page title

Most likely you do not want the page title (“Front page”) to display on the front page, so make sure to use a page template with not title. How-to in video:

Step 2 using WordPress cover block

Follow video to insert the Cover block and select an image:

Step 3 Adjust cover width and add text

Step 4 Add CTA button and locate text and button with spacers

The next step is to add a CTA button, locate button and text and adjust the image styling

That’s it! – you’ve got yourself a front page with an image, text and a CTA-button.

There’s more to the cover block and more ways to use images on front pages. See the very well explained video from WordPress here:

There’s another video about the Cover block on wordpress.com

Do you want the image to be in the site header?

That’s not the subject of this post, but try your lock the the “Header Block”
